Summary

In this posting we study the effects of different scan strategies in the presence of atmospheric effects on the forecasts of Neff.

Depth maps

Total depth 095GHz.png

Rows are minimum observing elevations of 30, 40 and 50 degrees.

Columns are no elevation penalty, with elevation penalty, and high cadence.

These depth maps are for 254 detectors (127 pairs) taking data for one year. The NETs assumed for the maps were for the SAT model. To correct, they are rescaled by the ratio of LAT/SAT NET at an elevation of 50 degrees. To arrive at the noise properties for the array, the noise levels obtained from these maps are rescaled by the number of detectors in the different frequency bands, taking into account a yield of 80% and correlation between detectors taken from here. To arrive at the noise properties for the seven year survey, they are scaled from a single year to seven years, assuming an efficiency of 23%, consistent with the assumptions that enter the noise calculator.
