NSF & DOE call for Concept Definition Team applications

The US Department of Energy (DOE), Office of High Energy Physics (HEP), and the National Science Foundation (NSF) Divisions of Astronomical Sciences (AST), Physics (PHY), and Polar Programs (PLR) invite scientists at United States institutions to submit applications to serve on the CMB-S4 Concept Definition Team (CDT).

The deadline for applications is 5pm EDT on August 15, 2016. Here is the call for applications and details: File:Call for CDT Applications FINAL.pdf

CMB-S4 Science Book

The purpose of Science Book is to set the scientific goals for CMB-S4 and specify the measurements needed to achieve them, which will then be translated into the instrument requirements. This will set the stage for defining the instrument.

The history of posted Science Book drafts can be found here: CMB-S4 Science Book Comments.

CMB-S4 Instrument Technical Papers

CMB-S4 Instrument Technical Paper

Goal of CMB-S4 instrument technical papers are to summarize the current state of the technology and identify R\&D efforts necessary to advance it for possible use in CMB-S4. CMB-S4 will require a scale-up in number of elements, frequency coverage, and bandwidth relative to current instruments. Because it is searching for lower magnitude signals, it will also require stronger control of systematic uncertainties.
