CMB S4 Concept Definition Task Force
In December 2016 the NSF-NASA-DOE Astronomy and Astrophysics Advisory Committee (AAAC) established an Cosmic Microwave Background Stage 4 Concept Definition Task Force (CMB-S4 CDT) as a subcommittee to develop a concept for implementing a ground-based CMB-S4 experiment. (Link to NSF CDT site.)

CMB-S4 Science Book
The purpose of Science Book is to set the scientific goals for CMB-S4 and specify the measurements needed to achieve them, which will then be translated into the instrument requirements. This will set the stage for defining the instrument.
- The First Edition of CMB-S4 Science Book is posted on the arXiv and also available here: File:CMB-S4 ScienceBook 1stEdition arxiv version.pdf
The history of posted Science Book drafts can be found here: CMB-S4 Science Book Comments.
The Concept Definition Task Force has been tasked with writing down science requirements, with three suggested levels (sky's the limit, minimum worth doing, something in between). John C. has, in turn, asked the Science Book chapter leads to create a summary table of requirements from the book. A workbook / dialog for putting that table together is here: Putting Together the CMB-S4 Science Book Requirements Table.
CMB-S4 Instrument Technical Papers
CMB-S4 Instrument Technical Paper
Goal of CMB-S4 instrument technical papers are to summarize the current state of the technology and identify R\&D efforts necessary to advance it for possible use in CMB-S4. CMB-S4 will require a scale-up in number of elements, frequency coverage, and bandwidth relative to current instruments. Because it is searching for lower magnitude signals, it will also require stronger control of systematic uncertainties.
